City Church Staff


			Senior Pastor Dr. Mike Chapman mchapman@thecitychurch.cc Dr. Mike Chapman has been the Senior Pastor of City Church since September 12, 1976. He came to City Church after serving as pastor in Fremont, California, and Honolulu, Hawaii. A native South Carolinian, Dr. Chapman received his B.A. in Biblical Education from Lee University (Cleveland, Tennessee), his Master of Theology from Luther Rice Seminary (Lithonia, Georgia), and his Doctor of Ministry from North American Biblical Seminary (Buffalo, New York). He has been married to his wife Trudy since 1970, and they have one married son, Shannon, daughter-in-law Mande and four grandchildren, Jacob, Jonah, Judah and Chloe.

			Executive Pastor Jerry Justice jjustice@thecitychurch.cc Jerry Justice was born to missionary parents and grew up in Trinidad. Prior to coming to serve on the staff of City Church, he served pastorates in Etowah, Sweetwater, and Cleveland, Tennessee. He also served as the director of a Christian Servicemen's Center in Bad Kreuznach, Germany, for four years. Jerry is a graduate of Lee University with a degree in Pastoral Studies. He received his M.Div. from Christian Life School of Theology. He and his wife, Sue, have two young adult sons, Jarrod and Donovan who is married to Kim.

			Worship Arts Pastor Jason Hallcox jhallcox@thecitychurch.cc Jason Hallcox joined the staff of City Church March of 2007. Jason brings a rich background in music and worship. He is a graduate of Snead State Community College in Boaz, AL, and has served as Worship Pastor at churches in Alabama, North Carolina and Tennessee. He also traveled throughout the United States as the lead singer with the well-known Christian group, The Imperials. Both Jason and his wife, Sandy, are originally from Alabama and they have two young daughters, Eden and Farrah.


			Developmental Pastor Shannon Chapman schapman@thecitychurch.cc Follow Shannon on Twitter Shannon Chapman is the Developmental Pastor at City Church as well as the lead pastor at Ethos. He grew up in Chattanooga, TN. He and his wife Mande met at Lee University and have four incredible kids Jacob, Jonah, Judah and Chloe. Shannon has served full time at City Church since 2000 and continues to dream about City Church and how it can connect with the community to be the church God created. He works closely with the Lead Team, developing strategies to accomplish the mission of our church.. Shannon values the teams he works with and continues to follow God's heart and plan as He leads.

			Generational Ministries Pastor Danny Hesterly dhesterly@thecitychurch.cc Follow Danny on Twitter Danny Hesterly has lived in the Chattanooga area for the past six years. Danny is a graduate of Lee University with a degree in Pastoral Ministry. In 2003, he received his Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Lee University. Prior to coming to serve on the staff of City Church, Danny taught at an alternative school for the past four years with another year teaching in Nome, Alaska. His wife's name is Erin, and they have been married since May 2004. They have one son, Micah Robert.

			Outreach Ministries Pastor Brian Mosley bmosley@thecitychurch.cc Follow Brian on Twitter Brian is a native of Chattanooga, graduating from East Ridge High School. He attended UTC, and later graduated from Lee University with a degree in Christian Education. In 2006, he received his Master of Divinity degree from the Church of God Theological Seminary. Previously, he has served on the pastoral staff of churches in Chattanooga and also in Loxley, Alabama. Brian is an Ordained Minister and is passionate about equipping, empowering and encouraging God's people to serve His mission. He has been married to his wife Ashley since May of 2001, and they have two sons, Garrison and Brody.

			Care Ministries Pastor Ernie Reno ereno@thecitychurch.cc Ernie Reno has served on the pastoral staff of City Church since 1977, and became Pastor of Care Ministries in 2007. He received his educational training at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Bethany Bible College, and Christian Life School of Theology where he graduated with his Bachelor of Theology degree. His family heritage goes deep into the Church of God with his grandfather being one of the Pentecostal pioneers of this century. Ernie grew up in Chattanooga and graduated from Hixson High School. He and his wife, Karen, have twin daughters, Krista and Kara, and a son, Carson.

			Elementary Director Nani Williams nwilliams@thecitychurch.cc In 1999, Nani moved to Cleveland, TN from Fairfield, IL. While there, she attended and later graduated from Lee University with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and an Art Minor. In 2006, she received her Master of Arts in Teaching from Lee University. She taught second grade for two years before coming on staff at City Church. She has been serving full-time at City Church since August of 2007. She has been married to Stephen Williams since October 2004. They are both passionate about creatively teaching children the unchanging Word of God.

			Preschool Director Jennifer Parris jparris@thecitychurch.cc Jennifer grew up in Franklin, Tennessee and graduated from Samford University with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications. She and her husband, Jamie, have been married since 1997 and moved to Chattanooga in 1999. Jennifer has been active at City Church for several years in different areas and assumed the role of Preschool Director in September 2008. She is excited and privileged to watch the preschoolers begin to understand God’s amazing love and His gift of Jesus to them. Her two children, Ella and Will, have given her invaluable “field experience” in working with young children, and they are constant joys in her and Jamie’s life.

			Business Administrator Kathy Thurman kthurman@thecitychurch.cc Kathy grew up in Chattanooga. She and her husband, Chris, have been active members of City Church since 1990. They have one son, Matthew. Kathy has been employed at City Church since May of 2000. She has served in various banking positions and as a programmer/analyst and consultant for different banks and local businesses. While Kathy serves on staff as the Business Manager, she has a passion for the vision of City Church and considers it an honor to serve and support the ministries of City Church.

			Nursery Director Chrissy Wofford cwofford@thecitychurch.cc Chrissy Wofford has grown up in the Chattanooga area and has been attending City Church since 2003. She has served in many areas of the church before assuming her role as Nursery Director in 2011. Chrissy has a heart to nurture and love children as they grow and follow God's plan for their lives. As nursery director, she feels honored to care for the families of City Church by providing parents with a place where their littlest ones will be loved and cared for. Chrissy has been married to her husband, Blake, since 2002. They have four amazing boys together, Elijah, Harrison, Owen, and Seth.
