Worship is man’s response to who God is. The Westminster Catechism states that the chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever (Rom.11:36)
Art is man’s activity that mirrors the creativity of God. Being created in his image (Gen.1:27), we are creative beings capable of displaying that creativity in many ways.
You and the talents God has given you are the reason we at City Church offer a wide variety of opportunities to glorify God through worship arts.
Visual arts include painting, sculpting, set construction/decoration, lighting, video production & digital arts. Scripture places a high value on skilled workmanship (Proverbs 22:29) and these art forms can serve as effective doors into God’s presence. We utilize these arts in thematic message series and also for special occasions.
Movement arts include dance, processionals, pageantry, and coordinated movements of worship. Action in worship indicates something is happening and invites everyone to celebrate our God with abandon. We offer opportunities in solo and group dance for children and adults.
Music arts involve singing and playing musical instruments. Scripture emphasizes the importance of music in the life of the believer. Praise teams, praise bands, instrumentalists, and vocal solos are a vital part of our worship at City Church. Everyone is invited to lift his or her voice in worship to God.
Literary arts include a variety of art forms such as scripture reading, poetry, litanies, monologues, dialogues, skits, and dramatic productions. These are used on a consistent basis in our services as well as holidays and special events.
Join us at City Church as we use our talents and abilities in the arts to glorify God, thus providing a way for His presence to infiltrate our lives, our churches, and our communities.
